ABOUT THIS COMPETITION

This is the biggest and most prestigious artistic gymnastics competition in Bulgaria, the National Artistic Gymnastics Championships. It is open to all registered Bulgarian artistic gymnasts in the country, and it consists of 2 days of competition for senior male and female gymnasts. The first day consists of the Team National competitions, All-around, and Qualifications for the individual National Finals. The second day is for the Individual National Finals on all of the gymnastics apparatuses. The best 8 gymnasts on each gymnastics apparatus qualify for the Individual National Gymnastics Finals. This year, the number one Bulgarian gymnast of all time, Jordan Jovchev, took part in the competition using it as a control event before competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games.

MY PERFORMANCE

I competed with Jordan Jovchev in my second National Championships.

This was my second time competing at the National Gymnastics Championships in my sports career. I competed on the Rings, representing my University team (A-Gym NSA G.C.), and I qualified for the National Men's Rings Final. Jordan Jovchev, one of the best gymnasts on the Rings in the world, took part in this competition, and he was awarded the gold medal on the National Men's Rings Final. It was a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete with one of my favorite gymnasts, Jordan Jovchev! I was ranked 8th in the National Final.

JORDAN JOVCHEV won the Gold medal on Rings at the National Championships 2008.

In August 2008, Jordan Jovchev competed in his fifth Olympic Games in Beijing, where he qualified for the Olympic Men's Rings Final but missed a handstand and finished the final in 8th place. Previously, Jordan Jovchev won a Bronze medal on Rings from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, and a Silver medal on the Rings from the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He is one of the best gymnasts in the world.

I am awarded a certificate for 8th place in the National Men's Rings Final, 29 June 2008. This is my first official individual gymnastics award at National level!
