PARTICIPANTS
OUR CONTRIBUTION
This year, I chaired 2 sessions at the ECSS Congress: a podium session on Physical Education and Pedagogics and a poster session on Children, Talents and Young athletes. I also presented a podium presentation at the parallel scientific sessions on the effects of microcurrent therapy. This study was a meta-analysis conducted at the University of Greenwich, London, with the aim to analyse whether microcurrent added to physical exercise can attenuate DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) and improve body composition compared to exercise alone. Our presentation was part of the the official scientific programme at the ECSS Glasgow 2023. The abstract was published as conference proceedings of the 29th Annual Congress of the ECSS, and together with the presentation are now both available to see/download on this page. The study will be built upon further, and the complete findings will be published in an international journal.
SUMMARY
This has been my most successful ECSS Congress so far. During the General Assembly at the start of the Congress, I was recognised as a Fellow of the ECSS for my contribution to the College and the field of sports science after a successful application earlier in the year. This is the most prestigious recognition I have received in my life to date. Moreover, the fact that the location of the event this year was on home soil (United Kingdom) made it even more memorable. During the Congress, I chaired a podium and a poster session and I presented one of my most important studies on microcurrent and physical exercise in a 10 min podium presentation. Furthermore, I also took part in the ECSS Bengt Saltin Charity 5k Run which is organised in honour of ECSS Founding Member Professor Bengt Saltin. ECSS is now officially one of the most important events in my calendar, and I am already looking forward to be part of the conference next year in Rimini, Italy.

Officially recognised as a new Fellow of the European College of Sport Science at the General Assembly of the 2024 ECSS Congress in Glasgow.
