A coaching identity built through years of practice.
STK comes from my initials—Stefan Todorov Kolimechkov—and has represented my personal work since 2008. After moving from Bulgaria to the United Kingdom in 2013, I continued coaching through STK SPORT while working in clubs and schools across London.
In 2022, I founded Kensington & Chelsea Gymnastics Academy. Today, KCGA is the home of the academy’s classes and bookings, while STK SPORT remains the home of my personal identity, knowledge, research and documented journey as a coach, researcher and active gymnast.
The organisations changed. The purpose remained: to help people experience progress through gymnastics.

Teaching in a school community
At St Edmund’s, I delivered weekly gymnastics for pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 and volunteered within physical education. Working alongside PE teacher Mr W. Silva deepened my understanding of how gymnastics fits within a broader school environment.
The school also participated in my doctoral research on health-related fitness, nutrition and physical activity. This period made the relationship between research and everyday teaching especially tangible.
Pupils represented the school at the Borough Gymnastics Festival and achieved third-place results.
Building experience in British gymnastics
Elite Gymnastics Academy offered my first coaching role after arriving in the United Kingdom. I taught boys and girls from preschool age through to 16, including general gymnastics and a boys’ artistic squad.
Gymnasts progressed through club, regional and national opportunities, earning certificates, medals and trophies. I am grateful to Olga Berzing for the opportunity and for the years of experience that followed.
At the 2014 London Regional Championships, gymnasts I coached achieved two gold medals and one bronze.
Where the coaching journey began
I began assisting at Levski Gymnastics Club in 2007 and became a coach in 2008. Stanka Pavlova and Nikola Prodanov gave me the first opportunity to learn the responsibility of guiding young gymnasts.
Alongside coaching, I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, explored the nutrition of young gymnasts and presented practical information to parents. In 2010, I also created a Bulgarian website devoted to children’s gymnastics.
In 2012, the club recognised my contribution with a special award before I continued the journey in London.
